Problems With Hanging Out With Feminists #56789
oh god I’m sorry. gpoy.
This made me laugh unnecessarily loud.
Seriously. Please fucking stop trying to convert me to diva cups. Stop. Please. Not my business. Not your business. Can we just talk about something else.
I am so sick of being told I need to use the diva cup.
Guilty as charged.
I JUST LOVE MY DIVACUP OKAY
ROFL. So guilty of this. I am unabashedly evangelical. Even when I’m hanging out with my friends who don’t have periods/uteruses (uteri?) I’m like “HEY, HAVE YOU HEARD THE GOOD NEWS?”
Yeah I’m with niceandradical. Menstrual cups are THE BEST. I’ve totally converted one of my RL friends and now she sells them in her store. I have a Keeper that’s probably like, seven years old now, and it’s my second keeper, and I will be replacing it (soon, I think) with a Diva Cup, because things you can sterilize make me happy.
<3
ALL OF YOU SHUT THE FUCK UP
YOU ARE THE PROBLEM
YOU ARE WHY FEMINISM CAN NOT HAVE NICE THINGS
most of the people in this thread missed the point.
SCREAMINGGGGGGGGGGG
Clearly it’s cute and funny when you go on and on about menstrual products to people regardless of whether or not they’re comfortable with that.
Not, you know, totally invasive and a whole load of everything including body shaming, cissexism and racism.
(And yes, it IS fucking body shaming to tell me I’m being horrible to my body because I prefer disposable pads. It IS fucking body shaming to say ‘oh, you’re just not using it right!’ when I say I tried it and it hurt. It IS fucking body shaming to demand that I am comfortable interacting with my menstrual blood and claiming that I must hate myself/women if I don’t)
So Diva Cups are the new tampons, basically. Because I have been getting ALL OF THAT it’s-so-much-better, you’re-just-using-it-wrong, I-don’t-care-about-the-myriad-ways-it-makes-you-uncomfortable crap re: tampons vs. pads since I got my first period. Could we maybe back up off the ways other vagina-having people choose to deal with their periods?
RIGHT?????????
oh my god
don’t get me wrong i think they’re a rly cool idea
and i will tell people about them if the subject is near enough to be appropriate and they haven’t heard of them
because it’s nice for people to know about all of the possible options!!!
but not everyone’s body is the damn same
and they will not work for everyone
same with tampons and pads for that matter
there is no universal answer that will work for everyone
and that becomes even more true when you’re talking about internal shit like tampons and diva cups
and it would be SUPER NICE if discussions of moon cups didn’t involve a whole bunch of the “if it doesn’t work for you YOU WERE DOING IT WRONG” and “the conventional disposable options are ENTIRELY DISGUSTING”
oh look i appear to have accidentally every lego feel free to step on them all
#menstruation #body policing #so it turns out vaginas are not actually IDENTICAL #WHAT A FUCKING SHOCK #i will never stop being bitter about the arch shaming bullshit #like it wasn’t disappointing enough that it didn’t work! #i was pretty disappointed! #because wow that would have saved me LOADS OF MONEY #plus environmental impact! #but as it happens #i can’t afford to have worse cramps than i already do #never mind the pain of insertion holy SHIT
LOOK. I JUST DON’T UNDERSTAND HOW YOU CHANGE THEM IN A PUBLIC RESTROOM.
OR LIKE.
ARE THEY INTENDED FOR UTERI THAT DON’T BLEED ENOUGH THAT YOU HAVE TO CHANGE THEM EVERY FOUR HOURS?
CAUSE THAT WOULD MAKE MUCH MORE SENSE.
